The I liv’s standout feature is its water-themed exterior. Expressed through layered glass louvers, each with a different curve, the building shimmers and undulates during the day as it reflects the passing sun, showing a slightly different face depending on the time of day, the season, and the weather. At night, its LED system creates and illuminates eye-catching designs to entertain passers-by and those on a casual “Gin-bura” (stroll through Ginza), lending an elegant accent to the dignity of the cityscape. The design garnered the 2019 #Japan Association of Artists, Craftsmen, and Architects Prize, making it a must-see architecture in Japan’s capital.

Completed in 2019, the iconic I liv building fits in with Tokyo’s upscale Ginza district, a neighborhood known for luxury brand shopping. Host to a mix of residences, along with retail, restaurants, and medical and other service-oriented businesses, the 55.95-meter high commercial facility complements a neighborhood that is no stranger to exceptional structural designs and a dizzying array of facades.
