Installation Preparation:

Prepare for installation of SS board

1. Structural adhesive
One structural adhesive (590ml) per square meter is required

2. Rubber Hammer;
Stainless steel corrugated sheet may have uneven shape or edges, you can adjust and correct with a glue hammer. Stainless steel corrugated sheet is generally thin and the shape is relatively random, so using a rubber hammer to correct will not affect the overall effect. If you do not have a rubber hammer, you can use discarded fabric or plastic bags wrapped hammer.

3. Double-sided adhesive
It is recommended to buy a wider double-sided adhesive, the wider the better, if you can buy 3M double-sided adhesive better. Double-sided adhesive can play a temporary fixed stainless steel corrugated sheet role, a long time fixed only by structural adhesive to achieve.

4. Stainless Steel Screw
Screw is needed to fix the panel on the ceiling.If the color is the same as the panel, and not so obvious visable.you can just leave it alone the the panel.If it is obvious and ugly, you can take it out after the structual adhensive has dried.

5. Angle Grinder
The angle grinder is used to cut the water ripple boards. We recommend using special metal cutting discs for cutting, some non-metal special cutting discs may cause stainless steel edges to discolor more severely when cutting. This is not the case with stainless steel metal cutting disc. If you order from LMC Metal, you can mention this information to our salesman so that we can give you some metal cutting discs for stainless steel in the shipment.

Stainless steel water ripple board is generally applied in two scenes, they are wall decoration and ceiling decoration. The application of the two scenes is similar. When you order stainless steel corrugated sheet from the manufacturer, three forms may exist.
A. Order stainless steel water ripple sheets directly
B. Order stainless steel sheets and let the manufacturer process it according to the site size.
C. Order stainless steel water ripple honeycomb laminate according to the site dimensions.

A. Use plywood as the base and install it in the flat paste.

Sometimes our customers purchase water ripple stainless steel sheets directly and cut them on-site or use a shearing machine to cut and paste them. Here are some of my experiences and notes on installing water ripple sheets in a flat-pack:

Experience and Notes:

1. Avoid buying deep water wave style when purchasing. Water ripple style is available to order. The water ripple pattern has deep and shallow, if you buy a deep water ripple, you may encounter serious splicing problems when splicing, the deepest and shallowest places can fall as much as 50mm.
2. If you still want to order deep water ripples, we recommend doing the hemming separately. Or just design a clear spacing
3. When installing stainless steel water ripple sheet, we need to use two kinds of adhesive. One is double-sided adhesive, and one is structural adhesive. It is recommended that you buy 3M brand double-sided adhesive with a width greater than 20mm. Foam double-sided adhesive can also be used on the wall. The role of double-sided adhesive is to play a temporary fixed role. Structural adhesive fixing takes some time and usually takes 24 hours to be completely stable, please check the instructions.
4. Screws can be used when necessary. Especially in the case of fixed ceilings. Of course, you have to buy the same color of stainless steel self-tapping screws, if you need them, we can provide the same color screws with the water ripple board. In general, the use of screws on top of the ceiling will not affect the overall aesthetics.

Specific installation steps:

STEP1:Measure the substrate and choose the right panel

We need to make a good wood base on site. If it is outdoor and need to pay attention to waterproof needs, please choose waterproof wood board as the base.
The width of the raw material size of the stainless steel plate is generally 1000/1219/1500mm three specifications. After stamping, the stainless steel plate into a water ripple style. The stamping process will lead to the actual plate overall width less than the width of the raw material. The actual width of the stainless steel corrugated sheet is generally in accordance with the width of the raw material minus 10mm is appropriate. That is 990/1209/1490mm.

STEP2:Cut on site according to the size of the base

We need to cut the stainless steel water ripple board based on the size of wooden base at site. If you need to open holes, you may pay attention to the location and sizes.

Special reminder: you need to consider the direction of the directional opening when installing in the ceiling.

STEP3:Glueing

At site, First compare the size of stainless steel water ripple board with the wooden base.After confirming that the size of the comparison is correct.Then put double-sided adhesive on the back of the board. And then apply structural adhesive, and finally install it.

Note: The base layer of the installation should be clean and dust-free, so as to ensure the bonding effect to the greatest extent.

STEP4: Fixed installation, as auxiliary support

After the stainless steel water ripple board is bonded to the base, it is recommended to do auxiliary support. It is generally supported by planks + wooden poles. After 24 hours, that is, the structural adhesive can play a good bonding effect, and the base layer can be removed.

STEP5: Remove the support and tear off the protective film.

After 24 hours of installation, the auxiliary support can be removed and the protective film can be torn off.

B. Use plywood as the base layer, and buckle the edge for installation

There are requirements for the thickness of the base layer:

It is recommended to use plywood as the base layer to make the base layer more than 10mm. (12 or 15mm is the best.) The reason is that because the surface of the stainless steel water ripple board is not flat panel.
When using the machine for bending, the edge less than 10mm is not easy to be folded. Even if it is folded, there will be probably that it will not be a right angle, and some places will deviate from the shape of the corrugation, and it is difficult to regulate. This will cause the gap between the boards to be too large.

The process needs to be adjusted:

The specific steps as below:

First step: cut the material and plan the groove.

Second step: press the water ripple board.

Third step: bend and buckle the edge.

If directly press the water ripple plate with a flat plate, then bend it. In this way, it is difficult to ensure accurate dimensions, and it is easy to cause relatively large dimensional deviations. The reason is because of the unevenness of the stainless steel water ripple plate.

The common consequence is that the board surface will be different of both side, or the diagonal is not accurate. When combining large-scale collages, it is difficult to form a straight line by combining multiple workpieces, and the cumulative error of splicing will be relatively large.

The process needs to be adjusted

If we plan the groove first, and then press the water ripples. Then perform the bending operation. When bending, the workers will directly bends according to the planing line, which can ensure the accuracy of the angle of the board to the greatest extent and avoid the problem of size different of both side. Installation errors can be minimized during batch installation.

The disadvantage of this is that the cost will be slightly higher than direct bending.

Specific installation steps:

STEP 1: Make the base layer on the measurement site.

Make the wood base on site. If it is outdoors, need to pay attention to waterproof requirements, and pay attention to the selection of waterproof panels. Note that a gap of 20mm is required between the boards.

The width of a single base needs to consider the width that the water ripple board can achieve. If you buy a 1220mm water ripple board, the maximum board width is recommended to be 1170mm after deducting the 20mm folded edge factor. If you buy a 1500mm plate, the widest can be 1450mm.

STEP2: Order water corrugated sheet according to the base

Order water ripple boards from the factory based on the measured wood base. If there is a hole, the measurement drawing needs to mark the location and size of the hole. If there is no precision requirement, an angle grinder can also be used to drive on site.

STEP3: Glue

After the water ripple board is ordered, paste double-sided tape on the back of the water ripple board, and apply structural glue (glass glue). Note that the base layer should be dust-free and dry, so that the bonding effect can be guaranteed to the greatest extent.

STEP4: Fixed installation, as auxiliary support

After the stainless steel water ripple board is bonded to the base, it is recommended to do auxiliary support. It is generally supported by planks + wooden poles. After 24 hours, that is, the structural adhesive can play a good bonding effect, and the base layer can be removed.

STEP5: Remove the support and tear off the protective film.

After 24 hours of installation, the auxiliary support can be removed and the protective film can be torn off.

D. Direct installation with honeycomb composite panels.

More and more customers are choosing to use stainless steel water ripple panels to make honeycomb panels. The surface layer uses 0.4~0.8mm stainless steel honeycomb panel, the middle layer is aluminum honeycomb layer, and the back panel can use 1.0mm galvanized sheet or aluminum sheet. The three are bonded with glue, and then fixed with hydraulic mechanical cold pressure.

The benefits of doing this are:

1. On-site construction is simple.

A simple support base can be done on site. No plywood base layer required. You only need to level the keel, and then lock the screws.

2. Good flatness.

Although the water corrugated board itself is an uneven process embossed board, there is no need to pursue flatness. At the same time, this characteristic also makes some parts difficult to tame when splicing the board. For example, the splicing and corner parts. The use of aluminum honeycomb composite water corrugated panels can reduce the unevenness of the panel surface, so that there is no need to worry about warping edges or corners when splicing multiple stainless steel panels.

On-site cutting is difficult.

Since the stainless steel water corrugated honeycomb panel is a composite panel, it is compounded with high-strength structural glue, which makes it difficult to change and cut on site. So two suggestions:

1. Make sure that the size measurement is accurate.

2. If wiring holes/light holes/fire installation holes are required, they must be pre-opened at the factory. Holes are opened on the panel and the base layer at the same time, and the aluminum honeycomb layer can avoid the opening position.

The workpiece is relatively heavy, and the protection requirements for the finished product are high.

Stainless steel water corrugated boards are generally applied with large boards. After composited with aluminum honeycomb boards, the weight is much larger than that of single boards. Therefore, the requirements for the protection of finished products should be higher. In this way, it is not enough to use the original stainless steel protective film for protection. In practice, we generally use foam or cardboard to separate the two workpieces.

When installing, it is recommended to find enough people for support to avoid product damage or personal injury caused by insufficient force during installation.
